PARIS : AN HISTORIC MARCH

La March Blanche ~ The March in White

Around 30,000 marchers in Paris on Sunday the 6th of April 2008 - an historic march in support of Ingrid Betancourt and all the hostages held in Colombia. With cries of: "Free the hostages, Free Ingrid", "Libertad", "Colombia, Paz", "We are all Colombian, We are all Ingrid", "Save Ingrid" etc. - the general public, ordinary people like you and I, have expressed their support and determination for the liberation of Ingrid and the others. By marching massively, they have made a collective appeal to the Colombian government and the FARC to resolve this barbaric situation. This appeal also goes to all the leaders of the world, to unite and help bring this hostage crisis to an end.

The Argentinian President, Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner was present, as well as many senior members of the French government, politicians of all parties and a large number of well known figures such as the new First Lady of France Carla Bruni-Sarkozy and the American actress Marisa Berenson - who came to express their support for Ingrid and her family and the other hostages held in Colombia.
